Evavaara Design (officially registered as Studio Antti E Oy) turned 33 in September. Founded in 1993, the company designs and manufactures all its products in Lahti.
When the company was founded, Antti Evävaara already had years of restoring antique European furniture in West Berlin behind him, as well as a number of sculptural classics that are now held in collections such as the Design Museum's.
In 2002 came sshhh 5 – a chair that created a quiet place of its own in the middle of an open-plan office. There was nothing like it at the time, and only years later did people begin to tackle the noise problem of open-plan offices on a wider scale. Ever since, acoustics has been at the heart of what we do.
In 33 years, our products have been delivered to more than 30 countries on four continents – to airports, ministries, libraries and offices. Design, assembly and upholstery are still done at our own factory in Lahti, and the components are made by our partners less than 50 kilometres away.
